SAN ANDRES | Muling Colombia’s Island Paradise

Hopping along on a ‘Mule’ in the driving rain, getting drenched, and laughing all the way! Ok, I’m getting ahead of the story. I'm enjoying this ride with Kristin Collum, a Digital Nomads Beyond 50 member. That's the Facebook community I launched in 2021. After a few paths that almost crossed, Kristin and I finally met in La Paz Bolivia a few weeks ago. We reconnected in Medellín and decided to check out San Andres Colombia. This island is a tiny spot in the Caribbean Sea so far north that you may mistake it as part of Nicaragua.

Upon Arrival, it’s easy to see how this compact island has become a ‘hidden gem’ favorite for many travelers. There is easy access to everything you’d want from an island destination. We could even walk from the airport to our stay on the beachfront!  With a wide variety of restos, shops, super-clean beaches.

Checking in we were pleased that the hard-to-believe 3 bedroom/2 bath suite we rented for 1/2 the typical rate was just as nice as in the photos. The sea view from the balcony was even better than expected. Booking a stay last minute sometimes has its rewards!
